Subject to international clearance, the 26-year-old moves to the Colombian Liga DIMAYOR side for an undisclosed fee.

Poveda spent 18 months on Wearside and made six appearances for the Club.

Director of football Florent Ghisolfi spoke on the move which offers the winger a fresh start away from English football.

“After positive discussions with Ian, we agreed to facilitate this move so he can pursue a new challenge in his career. We wish him all the best for this next chapter in Colombia.”

Poveda's last outing came in Sunderland's dramatic 2-1 defeat at Leeds just over twelve months ago and after falling out of favour at the club, this move could help him bounce back from what has been a harsh few years.

It's a first senior move outside of England for Poveda who has also featured for Manchester City, Leeds, plus spells with Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool and Sheffield Wednesday.

A statement from the South American outfit reads: “Internacional de Bogota welcomes Ian Carlo Poveda Ocampo , a 26-year-old Colombian-English winger who arrives to add to our attack.

“A right winger born in London and of Colombian nationality, he trained at some of the most prestigious academies in European football, including Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcelona, and Manchester City. His professional career has been spent in English football, playing for top-level clubs and gaining direct experience in the Premier League.

“He comes from English football after his most recent stint at Sunderland, a top-flight club, bringing speed, unpredictability and international experience to strengthen our attack. He now joins Internacional de Bogota, ready to contribute effort, flair, and talent to our attacking project.”
