Gerrard left as Rangers boss four years ago and has since had a stint in Saudi Arabia in charge of Al-Ettifaq in a role that he has now left as he takes on punditry in England.
Legendary manager Sam Allardyce recently commented on Gerrard’s links to Leeds United, who have been struggling under Daniel Farke this season.
“I don’t think it’s wild speculation. Especially when Leeds and Rangers are connected in terms of their ownership, that’s something that Gerrard is looking for. I can see him there; it’ll be a very big club for him.”
These links look to be just speculation however and Gerrard is unlikely to take the reins. TalkSPORT report that Gerrard was said to be a potential candidate to succeed Wolves-bound Rob Edwards at Middlesbrough before they hired Swede Kim Hellberg.
The report also states that he is unlikely to take a job until April as if the former England star accepts a job in the United Kingdom before April, he must repay 45% of his earnings from his 18 months in charge of Al-Ettifaq.
Gerrard lifted the Scottish Premiership title in 2021 and has been hot property ever since as teams hope to use his experience as a player and manager.
He then found himself at Aston Villa where things didn’t work out, but despite this he hopes to make a dramatic Premier League return over the next year. Liverpool boss Arne Slot is coming under immense pressure at the moment, but even if he is sacked, the Reds are unlikely to hire Gerrard, who lacks the experience needed.
