City players twice had appeals for a penalty waved away in a frantic final few minutes when Erling Haaland and Rodri went down in the box in what was an unlucky day for manager Pep Guardiola.

Speaking after the game, Silva sent a message to his side who face the likes of Real Madrid Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final on March 22nd over the next month.

“In these few weeks we're not going to win a lot, but we can lose a lot.”

“This month can keep us alive to fight for the competitions until the end, or it can put us down and we just go for one or two competitions. Hopefully, we will still be in all four of them in a month's time.

“It definitely puts us in a worse position (after the Forest draw). Still nine games to go for us, which is a long way. We’re not happy, obviously. We wanted to be closer to put a bit more pressure on them.

“This feels a bit frustrating and worse for us. If we look at the games that we have, it's going to be a tough job.”

City have a game in hand over Arsenal but if they collect 3 points they would still need to make up a four-point deficit in the final eight fixtures.

Arsenal will be quietly delighted after narrowly beating Brighton this week, as they aim to continue that form against Mansfield Town in the FA Cup.
