The Reds are at risk of losing five successive Premier League games for the first time ever this weekend as they face a Villa side who hope for five straight league wins at the home of the defending champions.

“If they lose on Saturday, I don't see them in the title race. If they win, build confidence, they've still got the quality to go on a big run. Saturday evening is huge - another defeat, and I think they're out of it.”
Last term Liverpool lost on four different occasions, but they were only beaten once in their first 30 games. Over the past decade, only Manchester City in 2021 have lost six games and still been champions in what now seems like an impossible job for Slot.
Liverpool follow the Villa game with a Champions League clash at home to Real Madrid on Tuesday night, before travelling to title contenders Manchester City on Sunday. The fixture list does not get any easier for Slot whose job will be at risk if they drop three points to Villa.
