The Italian coach successfully led Spurs to Premier League survival in the final weeks of the 2025/26 campaign after a chaotic campaign in North London under Thomas Frank, Igor Tudor and latterly De Zerbi.
After securing their ever-present place in the EPL, De Zerbi has instantly dived into the transfer market, with a trio of free transfer deals to sign Marcos Senesi, Andrew Robertson and Martin Dubrvaka.
Dutch international Jan Paul van Hecke has also landed as part of a £52M deal from Brighton & Hove Albion and sales are now planned before more new arrivals came come in.
Despite starting last season as first-choice, Spurs now expect Guglielmo Vicario to return to Serie A in the coming weeks, with Dubravaka acting as an experienced deputy to Kinsky in 2026/27.
It completes an incredible turnaround for the Czechia international, who was infamously substituted by Tudor after a horror show in Spurs’ UEFA Champions League exit against Atletico Madrid last season, and De Zerbi has been impressed by his off-field attitude.
Spurs are now not expected to pursue previous interest in Premier League pair Bert Verbruggen or James Trafford and Kinsky will also be offered a bumper new contract to reflect his updated squad status.
The details include tying the former Slavia Prague man down until 2030, with the option of an extra 12 months, and Vicario’s exit will be reinvested elsewhere in the squad.
After looking at defensive options at the start of the window, De Zerbi will now cast his eye towards attackers, amid ongoing links to Manchester United’s wantaway star Marcus Rashford.
