Rasmus Hojlund has opened up on his time at Manchester United under Ruben Amorim.

Hojlund joined United in a £72 million deal from Atalanta in 2023 and scored 16 goals in his first season in England but struggled to improve in his second campaign, scoring just 10 goals in 52 appearances.

The forward is currently spending the campaign on loan with Napoli after being pushed out by former manager Ruben Amorim who believed he was not cut out for the Premier League.

The forward is currently spending the campaign on loan with Napoli where he has thrived under manager Antonio Conte who knows how to get the best out of him.

Speaking on his time with the Red Devils, Hojlund said that Amorim restricted his ability unlike Conte.

“I got what I wanted with my transfer,” Hojlund said in an interview with TV2.

“It felt like it was over for me at one point (at Man Utd).

“Here at Napoli, I’ve rediscovered my love for football. People even back in Denmark were writing me off, but I never stopped believing.

“I got a team that believes in me a lot. A club that believes in me a lot. A sporting director, a president and a coach who wants me.

“I was put in a bit of a box at the end in Manchester. I knew there wouldn’t be much football for me if it continued like this.”

Hojlund is one of four Serie A players with 10 goals in the Italian top flight this season and as the season comes to a close, United interim boss Michael Carrick may have to decide whether he could make his way back into the side.
