Former West Ham and Chelsea manager Potter signed a contract for the World Cup qualifiers, including a possible playoff.
Potter has previously opened up about staying longer. Now the Swedish Football Association announces on its official website that he has extended his contract through the 2030 World Cup.
Potter remarked: "Being able to continue in this role means a lot to me. I feel both a great sense of pride and a great responsibility. It is a big day for me and a fantastic opportunity to do something important going forward. I have had a good first time as Swedish national team captain and have enjoyed myself very much with everyone.
"Sweden is a football country with a proud history with teams that have made it to the championship and competed there, which we want to return to."
SvFF's national team manager Kim Källström also said: "Graham has already made a strong impression in his short time with his wonderful personality and professional attitude and we look forward to continuing our journey together.
"His coaching background is based on experiences from a wide and unique range, everything from Swedish football to high international level with the complexity that exists there. The fact that this is now clear gives us security for the upcoming playoffs."
