Glasner said on Monday: “Straight before the press conference, he was still in the dressing room and we spoke.

“He had the same feeling that I had: he said ‘we don't need to talk about it, of course I want to play.’ He's fine to play, he will start tomorrow, and it's all good.”

On Benítez, Glasner said: “There is no plan for the rest of the season regarding the goalkeeper. Yes, Dean (Henderson) is our clear number one and he deserves it, he's doing an excellent job.

“Walter is great in training and has a lot of experience. He plays for Argentina and has played with PSV many international games. It's good to have him in the building. That's why we completely trust him.

“When Dean went to England, even if he didn't play, he was always on the road. Sometimes it's mentally exhausting. If we think it's good to give him a break and play Walter, then we will play Walter, because he's doing excellent, he's a great goalkeeper, he's a fantastic guy. We will really decide it from week by week.”

A serious game

On facing Millwall, Glasner said: “I think everybody, all our fans, will have experienced that we take every single game seriously.

"We don't need a derby, we don't need a home game, we don't need a special competition – we always want to show our football, we always want to show our best performance.

“It doesn't mean that it always works, but this is the mindset we create in every single training: giving your best in every single game. Then, all of a sudden, it becomes a habit. It's a nice quote: ‘winning becomes a habit’. This is no coincidence, but you have to be very consistent. It looks like the players get it more and more implemented in their mindset.

“I mention it quite often. If we feel that it's very important for our fans, then it means it will be very important for us as well. This is the reason why we are playing, this is why we have this great support.

“This is what our fans are appreciating, that they always see the team giving everything to win the game. This is what we will do tomorrow again.”
