Newcastle go to the Stadium of Light sitting behind Sunderland on the Premier League table.
Gordon, who played in the 3-0 FA Cup win on Wearside in January 2024, told The Sun: “We’ll take that. All the pressure’s on them, then, isn’t it? No problem for us.
“We know it’s a really important game, especially for the fans. It’s a massive, massive derby game.
“They’ve waited years for this game. We know it’s going to be intense. It’s going to be a war, that’s how derbies go.”
The Scouser added, “Football is a rollercoaster. It changes every five minutes it feels like. You’ve just got to stay level-headed, stay consistent. Consistency is the biggest trait in football.
“If you can be consistent through the highs and the lows, then you’ll do well a lot of the time. I’m just trying to be as consistent as I can be.”
