Newcastle are expected to lose several of their first team stars this summer, with Tonali looking like one of the most likely.
Premier League duo Man City and Tottenham have both been linked with a move for the Italian midfielder, with Newcastle holding out for a fee of around £100 million.
According to Chronicle Live, Eddie Howe’s side had been keen on a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha.
There had been reports of a £73.5million release clause in his contract, but they’ve since been shut down, with other suggesting it can’t be activated until next summer.
Dortmund are now demanding a fee of around €100m (£87m) to sell the midfielder, which is deemed to be out of Newcastle’s price range.
