Under-21s head coach McFarlane has been in temporary charge of the Blues since the sacking of Enzo Maresca last week. The 37-year-old was at helm for clashes with Fulham and Manchester City and has reportedly done enough to impress Rosenior.
McFarlane led Chelsea's senior side to an impressive 1-1 draw away at the Etihad before losing to the Cottagers on Wednesday night. The expectation was for the 37-year-old to return to his post with the team's U21 outfit, but Rosenior has other plans.
As reported by football.london and The Mirror, McFarlane is set to accompany Rosenior in the dugout despite asking how his former side had done this week.
"As I'm aware, we're back with the Under-21s tomorrow. They're playing tonight. I actually don't know the score. I'd love to know the score, if anyone knows?"
Chelsea's Under 21s lost 6-2 to Benfica in the Premier League International Cup without McFarlane.
Standart Sport report that Rosenior has been so impressed by McFarlane’s attitude and commitment that he will remain with the first team alongside Rosenior, who has his work cut out for him.
Chelsea take on Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup third round on Saturday night as Rosenior aims to kick off his time under Rosenior with a bang.
