The Italian saw red after leaving his technical area to celebrate Estevao Willian's injury-time winner with the players and home fans.
Maresca was booked and having already received an earlier yellow card for protesting too much over a penalty appeal, the Italian was sent off.
It means Maresca will not be in the away dugout at the City Ground when Chelsea face Forest after the October international break.
