Earlier this week, Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca said he believes Estêvão is "destined to reach the top of football" after his first two months in the Premier League which have stunned many pundits who are warming to the 18-year-old.
The teenager has already scored in the Champions League, Premier League, the Club World Cup, the Copa Libertadores and World Cup qualifiers so far in his illustrious career and shows no signs of stopping as he climbs the ranks in West London.
Estevao netted Chelsea’s second late first-half penalty in a 5-1 home rout of Ajax and afterwards, Desailly, speaking in association with OLBG, told GOAL explained what he needs to do to excel in the English top flight.
"He's a young player. He has good records. He was playing in Palmeiras, which is funny as during the Club World Cup, I think he scored against Chelsea.
"It was quite strange. But he has talent. I think he scored one goal this season, but you can tell (he has potential). But you have to take time.
"He has to adapt to the Premier League speed. He has to adapt to the Premier League impact into the system. As I had to adapt myself, the rock, when I came in England, I had to adapt to the speed, to the fighting spirit.
“So, take time, he's been magnificent last season, you know, with Palmeiras. But the Premier League is the Premier League. You can do whatever you want. You need to adapt a little bit as a Brazilian into the system. But the talent is there and we hope he will bring that value that Chelsea is looking for."
Estêvão's start to life at Stamford Bridge has seen him break a handful of records, including Chelsea's youngest Champions League scorer in the 5-1 win over Ajax on Wednesday night. The Brazilian cannot stop impressing and if he takes on Desailly’s advice he may take his performances to the next level.
