Pep Guardiola’s side were adamant the Brazilian wouldn’t be sold for less than their £67 million valuation, despite his reported wish to leave.
According to French outlet Foot Mercato, City were still preparing for life without Savinho, and were keen on signing Barcola, 23, as a replacement.
Barcola was the subject of interest from several clubs across Europe, with Liverpool and Bayern Munich among them.
