Liverpool stars Alexander Isak, Mohamed Salah, Alisson Becker, Mamardashvili and Ibrahima Konate all missed training on Wednesday as manager Arne Slot took precautions.
First-choice goalkeeper Alisson and star forward Salah remain sidelined but are reported to be “very, very, very close” as fans wait to see them in the final few games of the season.
Slot also stated that “Giorgi will train with us today for the first time, so let’s see how he’s going to react” as reports state that the Georgian could be back in the starting line up to face Chelsea.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has stated that the goalkeeper is likely to be between the sticks in what is a huge boost for the Premier League champions.
“Liverpool are confident for Giorgi Mamardashvili to recover in time and start against Chelsea.”
Having injured his knee in the Reds' 2-1 victory at Everton, claims were made that he would be out of action for 3 weeks. The goalkeeper could be back early as Slot swaps him for Freddie Woodman who stepped in for him and Alisson in recent weeks.
Other players, including Hugo Ekitike, Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni, and Wataru Endo, are still unavailable due to ongoing injuries in what is a bare bones Liverpool side still on the hunt for Champions League football.
