The 33-year-old Egyptian forward announced in March that he would leave Anfield at the end of this season despite still having one year left on his contract.
Salah waved goodbye at Anfield in what was an emotional farewell for the club legend who grabbed over 250 goals for the club, two Premier League titles, four league Golden Boots, and three PFA Players of the Year and so much more.
After leaving on awkward terms with manager Arne Slot, Lovren, who was Salah’s best friend during his time at the club, spoke to WinWin about Slot's relationship with Salah and how former manager Jurgen Klopp should never have exited.
"They didn't have a good relationship. Let's put it simply. With Klopp, he had a really good relationship. It wasn't always perfect, but they knew each other very well, let's say that too, and they trusted each other, they liked each other, and Mo gave everything on the pitch for Klopp, and Klopp gave him that trust. But (with Slot) it was the opposite. It's that simple.
"As I said, when Mo wasn't performing well sometimes, Klopp knew what he had to do with him. How to protect him, how to keep him even if he wasn't performing well, he needed to keep him for the next game. But as Mo said, they threw him."
“Maybe if Klopp had stayed another year, or two, he might have left in a much better way. But, you know... this is how it happened."
Lovren is clearly holding nothing back on Slot, a controversial figure who still divides fan opinion after his departure. More may come out on the Dutchman’s relationship with players over the coming weeks after what was a sudden exit which many were relieved with after such a dire campaign.
