The Rennes defender, just 20 years old, agreed a move in February with the club paying £55M up front with a further £5M in add-ons as he becomes one of the Reds’ marquee signings before the summer window opens.
Jacquet rejected Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea to make the move to Merseyside possible as he remained committed to the project at Liverpool.
The price tag only adds pressure
Now, speaking to French newspaper Ouest-France, the youngster has spoken on why how his price tag is weighing him down before he has even pulled on a Liverpool shirt.
"I won't say it (his decision) was a quick one, because I took my time with this big step, but I quickly saw myself at Liverpool. I'll be 21 in July. For me, there's the sporting project and the personal project. At my age, I prioritise the sporting side. I'm focused on football.
"Promising young players command quite high prices and of course, that adds pressure: am I worth that price or not? I think I have the minimum resources to go there. I'm going there to play as much as possible.
"If the biggest clubs in Europe are interested, we're not going to turn them down. They're there for a reason."
Jacquet hopes to learn from Van Dijk
Speaking further on why he rejected a move to West London, Jacquet revealed the one player who he hopes he can learn from as he turns to Liverpool's captain for guidance.
"At Chelsea, I felt there were quite a lot of people (in his position). Whereas at Liverpool, apart from the fact that Virgil van Dijk is nearing the end of his career, training with him is going to be huge.
“He's going to teach me so much. There's also (fellow Frenchman) Ibou Konate, who can help me settle in. Training with guys like that, it doesn't get any better than that."
The Frenchman is due to be ready when the squad returns for training in early July after an operation on a shoulder injury and much rehabilitation. He will also join last summer's centre-back signing Giovanni Leoni as two fresh defenders ready to step up into the Liverpool side.
