Ekitike left Eintracht Frankfurt last month for Liverpool after a summer of transfer speculation.
The France U21 international recalled, "To stand in front of a camera and tell you that everything went well would be a lie.
"When I look back, I think it really strengthened me. It was a real learning experience on every level. It makes me a seasoned player today.
"My ambitions? I've always been ambitious. If I told you my goals every day, you'd think I was crazy. To be good and have fun, because football is all about fun.”
Agent Ali Barat, meanwhile, also told Tuttosport: "I was working for Eintracht Frankfurt to bring him to Newcastle. I stayed ten days in Germany. We reached an agreement with the club and with the player, then Liverpool called him and he chose Anfield."
