Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has opened up on facing Cristiano Ronaldo as Hungary face Portugal.

Hungary have not managed to qualify for the finals of the World Cup since 1986 and will hope to bounce back against Portugal after a poor 2-2 draw with Ireland last week.

The Selecao have won 10 and drawn four of their previous 14 matches against Hungary throughout history, and a lot is on the line for this week’s clash that has a lot on the line for both sides as they look towards next year's competition.

Hungarian captain Szoboszlai will face football icon Ronaldo when the two sides meet on Tuesday night and the Liverpool star admits that it will be an honour to face such a legendary player.

“A lot (on how much it’s been on his mind).

“I have played against (great) players but I’ve never played against him. From my childhood he has been my idol so finally the time has come. I hope it will be a positive experience.”

The 24-year-old has filled the void left by Jeremie Frimpong at right back for The Reds and stunned Arsenal with an excellent free kick before the international break. He will be hoping for a similar performance against Portugal as he tries to lead his side to glory against arguably the toughest side in Group F.
