Rio Nguhoma made Premier League history with a dramatic winner as Liverpool edged Newcastle United 3-2 on Monday.

With the scores level at 2-2 at St. James’ Park, the 16-year-old came off the bench to replace Cody Gakpo in the 90th minute and delivered a stunning finish that sent the Reds fans into rapturous celebration.

In the process, Nguhoma set two records. First, he became Liverpool’s youngest Premier League goalscorer and the fourth youngest scorer in English top-flight history at 16 years and 361 days, behind James Vaughan (16y 270d), James Milner (16y 356d), and Wayne Rooney (16y 360d).

"It was a great goal for a 16-year-old. Rio (Ngumoha) can finish so well for his age,” Arne Slot told Premierleague.com after the game.

“How firm his shot was, you don’t see this often with a 16-year-old. He is so confident, that is what I like. The first ball, he immediately took someone on. For him to score that goal, it’s not a complete coincidence."
