Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior has backed Moises Caicedo after he penned a new deal this month.

Chelsea confirmed that Caicedo signed a contract extension at Stamford Bridge earlier this month in a deal that makes him one of the club's top earners.

The Ecuador international, 24, arrived from Brighton in 2023 and has contributed eight goals and 11 assists from 140 appearances since landing in West London.

Speaking ahead of the Brighton clash, Rosenior commented on Caicedo signing on the dotted line as he looks towards the future.

“He leads by example, and we’re delighted he’s committed his long-term future to the club,’ said the head coach.

“He’s somebody who leads by example in his bravery and the way he takes the ball, the way that he presses and tackles and runs and fights for the team.

“They are all the values that I believe get you success.”

The midfielder joins Reece James as the latest player to commit to the side past 2030 as the Premier League secure top talent for the future.

Caicedo was the only player to start every Premier League match last season under former boss Enzo Maresca, and it’s clear that he believes the club can offer him more opportunities to lift silverware.

Levi Colwill is reportedly close to signing a new long term deal as the club continue discussions with the defender.
