Leeds United supporters experienced more delight on Thursday as Ethan Ampadu signed a new long-term contract at the club, keeping him at Elland Road until 2030.

An enforcer and ball-winning machine in Daniel Farke's midfield, the Welsh international has been incredible for Leeds, inspiring his side to promotion and then Premier League survival.

Ampadu played 35 times in the top-flight last term, as well as five appearances in the FA Cup, with Farke's side reaching the semi-finals before losing to Chelsea

Now, as they aim to build on their promising 14th-place finish on their Premier League return, Ampadu has committed his future to the club by signing an improved four-year deal.

Speaking to the local media at a roundtable in London, chairman Paraag Marathe revealed his delight at the 25-year-old putting pen to paper, labelling him as "instrumental".

"Ethan has signed an extension, and we've got him locked up for four years," he said. "It's crossed and i's dotted, it's all done.

“Ethan was so instrumental for our whole year, and he's such a captain on and off the pitch. Everything he does is true leadership."

Ampadu exhumes class in every department for Leeds, setting an example with his performances on the pitch and bringing his teammates to an even higher level. News of an improved deal only reinforces the Whites' forward-thinking strategy and desire to reward those who perform well.
