Premier League new boy Leeds and Sunderland reportedly decided against signing new Man United goalkeeper Senne Lammens before his move to Old Trafford.

United moved to sign the 23-year-old on transfer deadline day after a string of worrying performances from Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir.

Lammens joined Ruben Amorims’s side from Belgian club Royal Antwerp for a reported fee of £21.7 million, signing five-year deal.

According to the Daily Mail, things could have been very different for the ‘keeper, with Leeds and Sunderland both keen earlier in the window.

The two newly promoted sides explored a potential deal for Lammens but decided against doing so over worries about his suitability for the Premier League.

Lammens could be set to undergo a real baptism of fire at United with a trip to Man City on his potential debut and then a visit from Chelsea.
