The Red Devils pulled off an impressive win over reigning champions Liverpool, thanks to Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire, that rocked Anfield and put a serious dent in The Reds’ title chances.
Can Lammens handle the pressure?
Lammens, who joined United on transfer deadline day from Royal Antwerp, explained how he is adapting to one of the biggest clubs in the world in what can be a very stressful change as all eyes are on him.
“Yeah, I try my hardest, I think I’m quite OK at this, trying to keep the noise out from outside,” Lammens said after the game, when asked about the difficulty of shutting out external pressure.
“I just prepare the same way as I’ve always done, treat it like any other game. Of course, you have to be realistic, it’s not like any other game, but you still try to prepare like this.
“With the game plan we had, I think we executed it quite well, so we knew before the game it was going to be really difficult, and we had to defend with 11 players, and we did, so it was really good.”
Lammens backs Amorim
The young Belgian shot-stopper penned a deal with United during the summer alongside the likes of Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko as manager Ruben Amorim build a side worthy of a title challenge.
Lammens backed Amorim as he came under pressure earlier this season, with reports suggesting that he would be replaced if results did not improve.
“For me he’s always the same,” Lammens said of Amorim. “I haven’t been here as long, so maybe it’s different for other guys.
“But for me as a coach he gets a lot of pressure, you can feel it from the outside, you can read it, you can hear it.
