Manchester United legend Roy Keane has been blocked from speaking to manager Michael Carrick as their personal feud continues.

On the Overlap’s ‘Stick to Football’ podcast, Keane remarked that Carrick’s wife Lisa had a “big mouth” and would probably be holding the team talk at the club in what comments that sparked controversy online.

The history of friction with Keane dates back to 2014, when Carrick's wife, Lisa, wrote on social media: "Roy Keane what a **** will say anything to provoke a reaction."

Now, as reported by The Sun and the Daily Mail, Sky chiefs asked for Carrick to perform an interview directly with the studio, which included pundit Keane.

This interviewed was denied by United officials who would not want to add fuel to the fire which does not look like it will be extinguished anytime soon as Keane continues his tirade.

Keane claimed Carrick’s United were like a “circus” ahead of his first game in charge against Manchester City, a game his side won 2–0 thanks to goals from Patrick Dorgu and Bryan Mbeumo.

It is unlikely that the club will allow Carrick to speak to Keane as United boss as officials try to drive attention to the action on the pitch rather than a bitter rivalry between two former players.

Keane did praise Carrick after the game however, stating that fans should wait and see how he copes as United boss.

“Credit where it’s due, absolutely fantastic. Let’s judge it over the next few months.

“The key is now to get momentum into this team, belief, no other distractions, focus on the league matches. There are quality players, we know that.

“Players coming off the bench having an effect. He’s done well today, but let’s see over the next few months how he does.”
