The 25-year-old made the move from AC Milan to St James’ Park back in 2023, making 99 appearances across all competitions.
He has consistently been linked with a return to Italy ever since, however, and that could be happening as soon as this summer.
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, former Juventus midfielder Marchisio urged his old club to move for Tonali.
“Football changes, but the DNA of clubs does not. Juventus have always had a core group of Italian champions and needs to rebuild it,” he said.
“(Gianluigi) Donnarumma seems unattainable to me, he just moved to Manchester City. Tonali seems more feasible. He would be an excellent starting point, but patience will be needed.”
