The Argentine striker has been a hot topic of conversation for a number of months and as Arsenal and PSG wait on his decision, the 26 year old is reportedly ready to join Barcelona as per The Standard.

Alvarez, who won the Premier League twice with Manchester City was a key target for Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta as he seeks to replace Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus who are linked with moves away in the coming window.

However, fortunately for the Gunners is that Spanish outlet Cadena SER has reported that Alvarez is not expected to force a move away from Atletico, meaning a move to Barcelona may not happen.

Reports in Spain also claim The forward is claimed to favour joining Barcelona, though negotiations between the two clubs are at a "standstill", likely due to finances after the Spanish side splashed out on Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon.

Alvarez’s contract runs until June 2030, giving Atletico a huge upper hand in negotiations as they can command a huge fee for the striker who currently has his pick of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Atletico are said to be planning for the future with Alvarez in mind but if the Argentina star wants to leave, they may have no choice but to sell.
