Declan Rice played a huge role in tricking Tuchel, who looked over with genuine concern as Stones grasped his shoulder and pretended to wince in pain.

Rice called Tuchel’s name with a sense of concern for his teammate who broke into dance, leading to a chorus of cheers and laughs that included Tuchel who ran over to hug Stones.

Speaking on the viral prank this, Stones revealed that his prank was particularly sinister as just moments before Jordan Henderson had broken his arm after slipping over advertising hoardings.

"I tried to keep a straight face as I was doing it because I saw he (Tuchel) was concerned and thinking, 'has he actually hurt himself?'.

"Especially after what Hendo had just done outside, he didn't know what was going to come but it was good vibes in there.

"I didn't think it would get that much traction to be fair."

Stones came into the World Cup having played just 78 Premier League minutes in 2026 and proved his worth against Mexico in what was a solid defensive effort alongside the likes of Dan Burn, Djed Spence and Ezri Konsa.
