"It’s a big point away from home and I'm just glad that I could play a part in that,” he told whufc.com. “I think the boys stuck to the task brilliantly, to be honest, and I think towards the end of the game we were pushing and you could see the team togetherness and what not. It's obviously a big result.

“It's class right in that corner. One of my mates was actually in there, so shout out to him!

“But no, it was brilliant, a great feeling and obviously I was delighted that I got put on for the corner because I thought maybe the Gaffer would wait until afterwards, but I'm just glad that it happened then and it was a good delivery.”

Irving added, “The boys stuck to their task brilliantly, kept going, really pushed on and we were looking likely that we could score. Thankfully we did in the end.

“You could see that the mentality was that we were going to take something from the game and I think that showed a lot of character from the team.

“I think there are a lot of positives to take and that mentality is what we need to take forward.”
