Eze scored a hat-trick to lead the Gunners to a 4-1 victory against North London rivals Tottenham on Sunday afternoon. The Gunners are now six points clear of second-placed Chelsea and look to be cruising to their first league title since 2002.
The England star once again started in a central role under manager Mikel Arteta, sparking debate as to whether he should replace Odegaard, who many believe does not match Eze’s ability.
Speaking after the game, Henry sent a warning to Odegaard and revealed that his place in the side may not be as tied down as first thought.
“By the way if I was Martin Odegaard. I said it, this guy is a 10 for me, he’s not a winger, he’s a 10.
“He needs to be in the middle of the park he showed it tonight so that’s what you want, healthy competition that’ what you want.”
Odegaard missed the Tottenham game through injury and as he returns to fitness it will be interesting to see how Arteta integrates both him and Eze into a side who look unstoppable at the moment.
Eze spoke after the game where he grabbed the first hat-trick in North London derby since 1978.
"That is crazy. Special day, man. Special day for me, my family," Eze told BBC Match of the Day.
"I don't think I could have ever dreamed of it. This is more special than that. I can only thank God.
"We were prepared for whatever set-up they were coming with because of the diligence of our staff. Huge credit to them, and of course the players in our team - the ability, the talent. From whatever angle, we're threatening to score goals.
"I probably should have scored four. I'm always trying to score, always trying to take my chances. It's important to be relentless."
