The Sun says Fernandes is expected to miss United's entire Christmas programme.
Fernandes, when seen out on Monday night, was asked if he'd make the Boxing Day clash against Newcastle, to which he replied: “No”.
Meanwhile, it's suggested Fernandes won't be seen until their Premier League clash with Arsenal on January 25.
Before then, Fernandes is set to miss Newcastle and Wolves, the New Year trips to Leeds and Burnley, the FA Cup third round visit of Brighton and the Manchester derby on January 17 at Old Trafford.
