Radrizzani also admits he tried for Aston Villa boss Unai Emery, while conceding he regrets sacking Marcelo Bielsa.
He told the Daily Mail: "Marcelo was a great catalyst for the city of Leeds. I regret sacking him, but at the time it was a rational decision to try to keep the club in the Premier League.
"I saw that the players were mentally and physically exhausted and we were losing a lot of games. It was one of the most difficult decisions of my life, and probably the wrong one, because what Marcelo did was greater than just the results."
Radrizzani hired Jesse Marsch, who kept Leeds up that season, but the Italian had other targets in mind.
"We could have had Unai Emery or Julen Lopetegui, but we missed that window. After the World Cup (2022) we tried with Arne Slot and Andoni Iraola, but it was too late. It was my responsibility."
