Liverpool are at risk of losing five successive Premier League games for the first time ever this weekend, and Villa will be hoping to capitalize on their dire form under the Anfield lights.
Villa are in fine form
Villa have also failed to triumph on any of their last seven trips to Anfield, but Emery’s side are on a fine streak as he spoke on October’s form.
“The performances collectively and how we are increasing and getting more points than we achieved in the first part of the season is very important.
“It means the players and our performance tactically is becoming better. The results are better than the first month we played in the Premier League.
“Something we have to avoid now is relaxing because we’re in a position where we are feeling good, but it’s not enough.”
Stopping Liverpool will be tough despite their form
The Spaniard then commented on this weekend’s opponents, who are now seven points below leaders Arsenal in the Premier League table are almost look to be out of the title race before the Christmas break.
“I have massive respect for them. They can have some moments where they’re not getting good results, but the coach showed last year his capacity and experience.
“How they played last year was amazing as a team. Tactically, I think their impact was fantastic, and they won the Premier League.
“This year they have the same coach and better players, but they are adapting things and building the team. They will need time to get comfortable and strong with the players they have, but individually they have very good players.
“My respect is massive, and I know tomorrow it’s going to be very difficult to get something there. We have to do our best tactically, our best individually, and we have to be clinical.
“Our commitment in the last matches, in everything we were planning to be strong in our gameplan, tomorrow will be very, very important.
“To stop them is very difficult. They have some injuries like we have. I’m excited and motivated, even more, for the difficulties we will face against them.”
Emery delighted with Villa turning their form around
After failing to score in each of their first four matches of the season, Villa have turned themselves around as they climb the table which Emery admits he is delighted with.
“We increased our demands in the training sessions and in meetings. I was worried one month ago how we were performing because it was a bad, bad moment and our performances were poor.
“I was so worried. I transmitted to the players my worries and tried to get solutions. We were working hard to come back from the bad form we had.
“Progressively we are getting better. Now is the moment we have one problem, if we are relaxing because we are performing better we can get confused.
“My worry now is to try to be very demanding and keep being consistent like we did the last matches we played. Tomorrow, if we want to be with the level Liverpool have, we have to be so, so demanding, clinical and focused in everything we have to do.”
