United are in talks with Aston Villa in a bid to sign Belgium midfielder Youri Tielemans as they trigger his £35M release clause this week following an impressive World Cup campaign.
Tielemans will replace Casemiro, who looks likely to join Inter Miami following his Old Trafford exit in what was an emotional goodbye.
The moves comes after the deal for Atalanta star Ederson fell through over the past week due to concerns over his knee in his medical as well as the Red Devils securing Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos.
Journalist Ben Jacobs has since revealed details of the moves on Monday morning, revealing some mixed news.
“Youri Tielemans informed Manchester United he wanted to join once the World Cup finished. Tielemans also had Saudi clubs keen, but only wanted #MUFC.
“Aston Villa had hoped the Belgian midfielder would sign a new deal, but powerless to stop an exit due to the £35m clause.
“Andrey Santos' £48m+£2m move to Manchester United is also already signed.
“Ederson's move to Old Trafford off for now following medical checks.”
Tielemans, whose move to United looks certain, has made over 130 appearances in all competitions for the West Midlands club, including 35 last season in which he scored two goals and made seven assists.
