Manchester United interim manager Michael Carrick has spoken on Amad and his attitude towards the team.

Amad was one of two players to sign a renewal last term after an impressive loan at Sunderland which proved to United that he has what it takes to succeed in the Premier League.

The winger travels to Wearside this weekend with his Manchester United career under question heading into the summer as reports suggest that Sunderland will make an offer for the 23-year-old in the coming months.

With Champions League football secured, Carrick may rotate and bring Amad back into the side to face his former club who will be keeping a close eye on him.

Carrick was all praise for the youngster before the game, revealing his attitude after coming back from injury has been fantastic.

"He's done so many good things since I came back and the impact that he's had on the team and his performances and what he gives the team, with the ball, without the ball, his energy, his attitude towards it.

"And he's been great over the last few days, and he was great after the game and so he should be. He's got nothing to feel down about or upset about and frustrated about because he's got so much to look forward to and he's so talented and so exciting and absolute joy to work with.

“So, he's in a good place, he's in a good place and I'm sure he's looking forward to the game on Saturday.”

Amad left Sunderland a cult hero after 14 goals in 2022-23, a campaign that ended with a Championship semi-final defeat to Luton at the end of the season.

Having lost just one of their 15 Premier League visits to the Stadium of Light, Sunderland may struggle this weekend but one of their main focuses will be on Amad who seems to be one of their top targets.
