The English striker scored in every December game, six more goals in five matches as the Leeds went unbeaten through the whole of the month under manager Daniel Farke.
Calvert-Lewin scored against Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Liverpool, Brentford and Sunderland during December and was by far the best striker out of Erling Haaland, Ollie Watkins and Hugo Ekitike who were also selected.
He becomes the first Whites player to claim the award since iconic defender Rio Ferdinand in October 2001, ending a staggering 24-year wait for the club in what is a proud moment.
It’s Calvert-Lewin’s first win of the award since September 2020 when he played for Everton and shows how the striker has bounced back with the newly promoted side who are seeking to avoid relegation.
He joins Jack Grealish, Haaland, Bryan Mbeumo and Igor Thiago on the list of players to have won the award this season in what is a diverse cast of clubs.
He also now becomes a part of a club of Leeds players to have won the award that includes Tony Yeboah, Paul Robinson, Robbie Keane, Ferdinand and Alan Smith.
