Man United dominated much of the game and eventually took the lead in the 58th minute thanks to Diogo Dalot’s close range strike.
West Ham didn’t give up though, and their efforts were rewarded late on when midfielder Soungoutou Magassa bagged the equaliser and secured a crucial point.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, captain Bowen hailed his side’s ability to not let their heads drop when going a goal down.
"We always knew it was going to be a difficult game coming here,” he said.
“They came off the back of a really good result away at Palace and we were on the end of another disappointing result.
"We wanted to show a reaction and I think we showed that from going a goal down to getting back into the game. I was really proud of the team tonight. The way they fought, the way they ran, and got a deserved point.
"In the Premier League it's got to be that way. You can't be too disheartened when you go a goal down. There's still a lot of time to play and we have to believe.
"We have that belief, I think you can see that, and then we get the goal from a set piece which is really important for us. Sounga got his first goal, delighted for him, he deserves it so much. I'm really happy for him."
