The Seagulls have brought in and developed tons of talent over the years such as Pascal Gross, Dan Burn, Yves Bissouma, Billy Gilmour, Neal Maupay, Marc Cucurella, Moises Caicedo, Ben White, Leandro Trossard and many others who have gone on to great success including former manager Roberto De Zerbi.
The Liverpool player Bloom would like back
Speaking to the club’s YouTube channel, Bloom has been discussing some of the sales he’s made in recent years and admits that there is one Liverpool star who he wishes was still with the side after letting him go all those years ago.
“Well, in the last five years we’ve sold some top players who are playing at really big clubs and doing fantastically well
“It’s tough to name one of those players, but I guess I’d pick Alexis, who I wish was still at the club. He did (win the Premier League) after winning the World Cup while a Brighton player.
“And good luck to him! He’s a brilliant player, a brilliant person and I’m just delighted for him.”
Bloom stands by Brighton's transfer policy
Brighton being an established top 10 Premier League club shows this model of developing players is working and Bloom stands by those who have come through the system. Mac Allister left Brighton as a World champion when he signed for Liverpool in 2023 and Bloom hopes that his side can continue such excellent work in their scouting department.
Bloom continued: “I could say the same about quite a few others, but we understand how the system works.
“We bring players in, they improve, hopefully they improve, a lot of the time they do improve and they get sold for big money.
“They’re not all a success but a lot of them have been I think, particularly in the last five years. We’ve been really successful on that and we want to keep doing that.
“We keep looking for younger players we think are undervalued who are going to improve under us.
“And then, either they stay with us and be successful with us or sometimes they move on.”
