It is no secret that Elliott has been desperate to play more regular football with him even admitting earlier this summer that he will have to be selfish with his future as he looks to further his own career. He said:
“If I had it my way, I would be here for the rest of my career, it’s as simple as that. I love everything about the club. But at the same time, I kind of need to be selfish with myself and see what’s best for me.
"I have big ambitions, I want to get in the World Cup (squad), keep being successful as a player. I think it’s still something I need to review, I need to have a talk with everyone and review the situation.
"Obviously we have many new players that have come in, so whether it blocks the path for me, I’m not sure. It’s something for me to decide and have a look at. As I said, just review the situation."
Now, Villa are working to close a deadline day deal for Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott on loan, with an obligation to make the transfer permanent next summer as reported by The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.

Although the 22-year-old would prefer to stay at Liverpool, there is a strong chance that his appearances will only come off the bench as manager Arne Slot focuses on the rest of his side. So far this season Elliott has had just one minute of football and a move to Villa may be the next best step.
