Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has spoken to the media ahead of this weekend's clash with Crystal Palace.

The Gunners are seeking a seventh straight victory across all competitions as they welcome the Eagles to the Emirates Stadium for Sunday afternoon's London derby. Arsenal have looked unstoppable as they charge towards the title and Arteta will be hoping for another win to extend their lead over Liverpool

Injury updates

Arteta first gave a number of fitness updates as Arsenal’s injuries worsen in recent weeks, with several top players picking up knocks.

On Gabriel: "Big Gabby had to leave the pitch against Atletico Madrid with an issue, and we will have to wait over the next 24 hours to see if he is available."

On Noni Madueke, Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard: "None are available in the next week or so."

Could Arsenal beat Chelsea's record?

Next, he was asked about breaking Chelsea's record of only conceding 15 league goals in a season and stated that trophies will come if such a record is achieved.

"Those kind of records bring silverware at the end and the trophies that we want. The more we can produce, the closer we will be.

"The aim is to continue improving things."

Arsenal's impressive defensive record

The Spaniard was also asked about his side's defensive record as they aim to become just the second team to go three successive Premier League games without facing a shot on target after the Manchester City from May to August 2014.

"The teams with the best defensive records most of the time, except the past three seasons, normally win the league - so the stats go against us.

"The stronger we are in foundation, the better chance we have."

Eze could be nervous facing his old side

Eberechi Eze will face his former side for the first time since making the switch from South London to North London this weekend and Arteta opened up on how the forward may be feeling.

"There is something in your tummy, obviously. There is history, there are a lot of emotions, there are very close relationships. In my opinion, once you step in there and you go with that mindset, you have even more will to win.

"Because, as well, you made that decision here to be successful and to achieve something else in your career. I'm sure Ebz are going to be ready for that."

Do Arsenal rely on set pieces?

Arteta's men registered their 10th set-piece goal in just eight Premier League games this season after their win over Fulham and he was finally asked about his team's reliance on them so far.

"I don't see football like open play and set pieces. I see the game in a different way.

"We have given that part of the game the importance it deserves. We have to maximise things we have and be effective.

"Ten years ago I had a vision and tried to implement a method and I am surrounded by the best people to deliver that."
