But Havertz told the Guardian: "I don't think we as players understand the criticism, I knew it before and I felt it myself when I first came to England and then when I came to Arsenal.
"You always need some time to adapt, but I felt that even though people who saw him were very critical in the first few months.
"I never saw it because he is a player who helps the team in so many different aspects."
Gyökeres has scored 15 goals and two assists in 38 competitive matches this season.
