After losing four games in a row across all competitions for the first time since the days of Brendan Rodgers in November 2014, Liverpool ended their streak with a 5-1 win over Frankfurt in midweek. They will now seek to carry that form over to The Bees, who they beat 2-1 last time out thanks to goals from Darwin Nunez.
Worrying injury update
Slot first gave an injury update, including a worrying update on summer signing Jeremie Frimpong.
"Jeremie Frimpong is not in a good place, he won't play today, tomorrow or next week. Hamstring injuries take a while.
"Alexander (Isak) is not too bad. He is a question mark for the weekend so we will see where he is and that is the same with Ryan Gravenberch.
"Alisson Becker is also not in the squad."
Wirtz is back in form
The Dutchman next spoke on fellow summer addition Florian Wirtz, who bagged two assists against Frankfurt to break his duck in form.
"It was more difficult to do what he did against Manchester United (to set up Cody Gakpo) than his assist for Dominik Szoboszlai.
"His general game I have liked, but if you lose a game, then you hear about the negative things.
"On Wednesday, we generated the same amount of chances from open play than we did in those recent defeats."
What is Liverpool's best XI?
So many summer additions has led to many pundits questioning what Liverpool’s best starting eleven is, and Slot confirmed that it takes a whole squad to make a team.
"All the best teams have more than 11 players. After the summer signings, even if we won seven games in a row, I felt like we would need to grow.
"We have lost four, three of them were away. It is normal with changes. We need to find a way of growing together."
Scoreline has affected Salah
Mohamed Salah recently deleted is header on X and has been in dire form for The Reds as of late. Slot was asked about the Egyptian king and said everyone has not been themselves due to the club's poor run of games.
"Everyone has been in a difficult moment.
"Scorelines have an impact on opinions of people. I need to show everyone what we did well and what we did wrong."
Why is Salah missing chances?
Finally, he opened up on Salah's poor finishing and his wasted chances, an aspect of his game rarely seen in a Liverpool shirt over the past several years.
"I don't know if it's sharpness. In general, players miss chances. He's a human being. We're not used to him missing chances let alone a few games in a row, but these things happen.
"The main thing is Mo has always scored his goals for our club. The last thing I worry about is Mo start to score goals again because that's what he does his whole life and that's what I expect him to do again.
"Maybe his whole Liverpool player he played with Trent, so it could (be that). But he's been in promising positions often enough to score goals, maybe with Trent even more.
"But in general, if you have quite a few changes in the summer you have to find new connections. Mo is no exception to this.
