According to Fabrizio Romano, the 27-year-old has put pen to paper on his contract with Arsenal as one of the summer’s biggest transfer sagas nears its climax.
Gyokeres has been pushing for a move to Arsenal following a high-profile falling out with Sporting CP president Frederico Varandas.
The prolific forward was under the impression he would be allowed to leave the club for a lower fee of around £51 million plus add-ons, per a perceived ‘gentleman’s agreement.’
Arsenal now look to have got their main man, however, with Romano confirming he will inherit the famous number 14, once worn by the legendary Thiery Henry.
Gyokeres could face former manager Ruben Amorim in his first game as an Arsenal player in their Premier League opener on August 17th, which happens to be Henry’s birthday.
