Bournemouth stars Tyler Adams and David Brook have praised Andoni Iraola following his move to Liverpool this month.

Former Bournemouth manger Andoni Iraola has agreed a two-year deal as Liverpool head coach as he swiftly replaced Arne Slot ahead of the new campaign.

The Spanish boss impressed everyone with his side's style of football on the south coast as the board rushed to bring him in, prioritising him over every other candidate.

Normally when a manager departs, they leave their old club on bad terms and players often resent them behind the scenes.

Can Liverpool win the league?

However, as the World Cup gets underway, USA midfielder Adams was asked about Iraola who he believes can lead Liverpool to the title.

“Can they? Liverpool? Absolutely," he said.

"Under how he plays the game, with the types of players that they have and the style that he’s going to want to play, absolutely.”

Welshman Brooks was also asked about Iraola, a manager he says he wishes to have success after leaving the Cherries.

“I feel like once he left Bournemouth after three really good seasons, we knew he was going to a top team,” the Wales international told the Press Association after he scored in his country's 2-1 defeat to Romania in Bucharest on Saturday.

“We didn’t know who it was going to be or where it was going to be.

“I wish him all the success there. He’s been good for me, my career and he’s given Bournemouth European football.

“There’s no animosity towards him or any or the staff that go with him. We wish him all the best, just not when we play him.”

Iraola now has the task of rebuilding his side ahead of the new season and has already been reported to be looking at the Bournemouth squad as transfer options as he scouts his former club.
