Rochdale, sitting in League Two after being promoted from the National League last season, have announced the signing of Wilson this week in what is a huge move for the side.
The 20 year old is yet to make his senior debut for the Blues but has featured six times for their Under-21s in the EFL Trophy as he gathers experience.
Speaking on his move down the football pyramid which will hand him regular game time in the first team, he said he is thrilled and cannot wait to get started.
“I’m happy to be here. It’s such a big club that I’m joining, and I can’t wait to play in front of the fans.
“I feel like at my age it’s the right time to take the next step in my career.
“I’m looking forward to meeting all the lads and buzzing to get going.”
Head Coach Ian Watson also commented on the move and admitted that he expects the young defender to make an instant impact.
“Kaiden is really highly thought of at Chelsea. We’ve watched a lot of him; he’s very athletic and is going to add a lot of speed to our back line.
“He’s a really good character as well who wants to learn and develop. Chelsea have been amazing in getting the loan done, and he’s a really exciting signing for us.
“It’s his first loan, but I’m expecting him to hit the ground running.”
