Jeremy Jacquet is set to undergo surgery after suffering a shoulder injury whilst at Rennes.

Jacquet dislocated his shoulder in Rennes’ 3-1 loss to Lens on February 7th and at the time the Ligue 1 side delayed a decision on whether he would undergo surgery.

Now, as confirmed by the club, Jacquet will undergo surgery to fix the issue ahead of his summer move to Merseyside.

“Jérémy Jacquet is set to undergo surgery,” a statement read

“On the pitch against Lens on February 7th, Jérémy Jacquet was forced to leave the game early due to a left shoulder injury. Following medical examinations, surgery has been scheduled in the coming days.”

“Stade Rennais F.C. wishes him a speedy recovery.”

Jacquet agreed to join the Red in the summer but the France youth international would stay at Rennes for the remainder of the campaign in a decision that hasn’t quite worked out due his injury immediately after saying yes to the move.

This is Jacquet’s second shoulder injury, having missed a month of action while at Clermont at the start of the 2024/25 campaign which could become a worry for Liverpool as they monitor how the surgery goes.

Reports state that there's a strong possibility his season has ended, and he won't feature again for Franck Haise's side, ending his hopes of featuring in the World Cup for France this summer.

However, he will return before the new season begins as he has a four-to-six-month timeframe before being able to return to the pitch at full fitness.
