Having stepped down from his duties a month ago, Longoria officially ceased to be president of Olympique Marseille this Monday.
It ends five years as Marseille president for the Oviedo native.
Longoria, 40, became one of the youngest presidents in Ligue 1 history in 2021. At 35, he took over a club in turmoil and burdened with significant debt. Thanks to his decisions and market knowledge, OM turned things around and returned to the Champions League - the very competition that ultimately derailed Longoria and Roberto De Zerbi 's project this season.
In February, the Italian coach announced his resignation by mutual agreement. Days later, Mehdi Benatia also unilaterally resigned as sporting director.
However, the Moroccan was retained by the owner, American Franck McCourt , who reaffirmed his confidence in Benatia and announced internal changes, including removing Longoria from his position as president.
The Spaniard negotiated his departure from Olympique de Marseille through his lawyers, and it was made official on Monday morning.
