Real Madrid's 2-0 defeat to Barcelona on Sunday night saw their biggest rivals secure the 2025-26 La Liga title with three games to spare.
For the second season in a row, Real Madrid have failed to win a piece of silverware and their season has been filled with drama which has brought the club to a new low.
The club’s top scorer Kylian Mbappe has been told to leave whilst Aurélien Tchouaméni and Federico Valverde were seen clashing heads in training.
Kroos, speaking on his podcast, spoke on the loss to Barcelona and the lack of hope at the side in the final stage of the season.
"That's really hard to swallow. "Two (defeats) is unacceptable. Full stop. That's Real's self-image. Everyone knows that.
“The result of a long-standing negative atmosphere, both inside and outside the club—at every level.
"Maybe they were motivated. I'm not saying they weren't. But it's just not enough—on many levels."
"I've rarely jotted down so few notes," Kroos said, adding, "I've rarely felt so little hope. To be honest, I was glad when it was over."
Los Blancos face Real Oviedo on May 14th, Sevilla on May 17th and Athletic Bilbao on May 24th before their dire season comes to a close and a reported summer overhaul takes place with Jose Mourinho potentially returning.
