Trent Alexander-Arnold is the latest player to be singled out by the Spanish media, who branded him 'clueless' for his poor start to life at Real Madrid.

The 27-year-old’s decision to leave boyhood club Liverpool for Real Madrid hasn’t quite gone to plan for any party.

Alexander-Arnold has started just five of his seven La Liga appearances so far this season and has largely been benched by veteran star Dani Carvajal.

Carvajal’s recent knee injury means the England international has been given more of a chance of late, but the Spanish press isn’t impressed.

Xabi Alonso’s side have hit a rough patch of form and their 1-1 draw with Girona on Sunday (November 30) was the latest missed opportunity.

While few Real Madrid players can hold their heads high after that performance, Alexander-Arnold has received the most criticism.

Writing for MARCA, Spanish journalist Alfredo Relano claimed: "Now that Trent is here, he seems like a clueless and insubstantial player, with the expression of a rabbit in the headlights. His quality at set-pieces is masked by his right foot, but in open play he is non-existent."
