The Germany goalkeeper has moved to Girona on-loan to the end of the season from Barcelona.
Ter Stegen was presented to the local media this morning and stated: "When we started talking, we didn't know if it could be a realistic option. In the end, everyone is happy, I'm happy because it's a style of play that suits me, I want to contribute my qualities to the club, and I'm grateful to everyone who has worked to make it possible for me to be here.
"The veterans welcome you, they explain how things work. I already knew (Cristhian) Stuani. It's a welcome I couldn't ask for more. They're trying to make me feel at home.
"It's only been a few days, but they're succeeding; the communication has been fantastic. I want to get into the team dynamic as soon as possible. We have to give our all on the pitch."
On leaving Barca, Ter Stegen also said: "After the injury, I wanted to get back on the pitch as soon as possible. I trained hard to achieve that, but you have to respect the manager's decision, and I did.
"They opted for Joan (Garcia), who is doing a great job, and I respect that. We always had a good relationship, even if you all want to believe otherwise. The competition between us was very healthy.
"I wanted consistent playing time, and in the end, that's what I was looking for. I have to say that I have personal goals; I want consistent playing time, and that's my objective now."
